Computer requirements for DIRECTV DSL™.
Our service works with most computers built in the last
few years. So you don't have to worry about costly updates
or complicated hardware to install. Just plug your computer
into one of the two different ports on the DIRECTV DSL™
gateway; whichever one matches a port on your computer.

Use Ethernet if your computer has this port.
Any computer can use Ethernet.
Ethernet is the most popular type of connection, and all you
need is an Ethernet card, which most computers already have.
If yours doesn't, you can easily get one; they're
inexpensive and not hard to install (get any 10Base-T or
10/100Base-T card). To use a Macintosh or UNIX/Linux
computer with DIRECTV DSL™ service, you'll have to use its
Ethernet connection.

A USB port is a good alternative.
Windows 98/2000 can use USB.
If you use Windows 98 or 2000, and your PC has a port that
looks like this (most new ones do), you can connect via our
gateway's USB port.
